Are you ready for your G2 Road Test?

Obtaining your G2 is one of the biggest, most exciting feats in terms of your journey to getting your full G. It gives you the ability to drive without a licensed passenger, opening up another seat for your friend to join you after school cruise. But, are you fully prepared for the big test? Below we will cover some of the must knows to successfully pass your test.
Parallel Parking
For some, parallel parking is one of the hardest things to master, and rightfully so. With an instructor sitting beside you some may feel the pressure to execute the task correctly, but there are some tricks to remember.
A good rule of thumb to master the steps of parallel driving is to remember that there should be at least a vehicle and a half worth of space between the two vehicles you plan on parking in between. Now, pull beside the vehicle you are parking behind, matching your back wheels just ahead of the cars bumper. Turn your wheel as far right as possible, backing in to the slowly. When your front right wheel is matching the back-left corner of the vehicle in front, it is now time to turn your wheel left as far as possible, slowly fitting into the space. Once you are parked, pull ahead slightly to ensure you are not too close to the vehicle behind you. Happy parking!

What does the examiner look for during the test?
The job of the examiner is to ensure you are a safe driver, and are ready to transition on to the G2 phase of your licence graduation. Now, what does an examiner look for, and what are the most common mistakes a driver makes during the test? The most common mistakes made by a student driver during their road test are failing to do mirror and head checks, not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign, failing to maintain the legal speed limit, failing to proceed on a green light; failing to give way, entering an intersection on a yellow light, and turning right without yielding to pedestrians. These are all habits that can be fixed with the proper driver education and practice on the road. Your examiner will be watching out far all of the common mistakes above, in addition to your pedestrian awareness, surrounding awareness, traffic awareness and more. They will be constantly observing you head movement to ensure you are using your mirrors when driving.
